Previews made it to the quarters last year.
What were some of the lessons that you took from last year's team and last year's run that you're applying to the 23 season?
Well, we got a lot of kids that that are going to be back from that team.
We have one of our largest senior classes that I've had since I've been environment just this year now environment.
These kids, we come up short the last three years in a row and and they were a part of all of the kids and we just got to realize that we can't have any wasted days during the season.
We always say that you can't win one particular day right now during the summer or whatever it may be, but you can lose by not getting better.
So, you know, we've we've worked more than just fundamentals, techniques.
We're not always the biggest thing we're going to play against.
So our technique has been really good and we have to play.
So that's some of the things that we we emphasize.
You won that five eight championship back in 2018 and you're anxious to get back there.
How is practice going?
How's the team looking?
What sort of things are you implementing right now?
Not, you know, right now we had a punt camp due at the end of June.
We have another one.
We have to two days this week that we're hosting and those are real big.
And in putting pads on to simulate real, real football.
We've done some seven on sevens and going to Troy University of Florida State, we've competed well there.
And so, you know, just the accumulation of some workouts and weights and running and do these and then then throw practice in there as well.
So you know, it's something that you have to juggle.
And and our kids have been doing a great job of coach and doing a great job.
Coach, you mentioned travel and you're in one quite a and it's a region that's got you Cairo west over Sean Hardaway.
But that means that you've got to find six non-regional opponents.
When you look at your schedule this year with the travel and who you're having to pair up with, what do you see?
You know, we have to get slowed down.
We're starting out with Eagles Land and Christian and they'll be here first week.
We've got the Thomas Thomas County Center where county, Penn State, James Brooks.
We've got a road schedule at the end of the year.
So we'll we'll kind of know where we are when we get through that.
Sounds like a pretty tough schedule.
And I know you like to play those big games at home.
What does the football mean to your community there?
Well, I mean, it's big, you know, our community really supports this.
They support the kids.
And, you know, we like played all week.
We always have a good crowd and our kids respond to that.
So, you know, we're going to have some tough games as well.
So we're going to have to step up to the challenge.
One last question for you, and it's our bonus question.
Is there a funny coaching moment, funny coaching memory, game day tradition or gameday superstition that you'd like to share?
Oh, it's probably some of those.
Really?
Well, there's one thing that we do and some of the coaches, we always kind of get to go pregame and maybe do a workout.
You know, they go to gun shows.
So it is fun for the coaches.
It's like the kids like to watch this.
You know, the old men in there, you know, work out a little bit.
So this is fun for everybody showing off their guns.
Mm hmm.
I know there's golf shirts.
You probably tuck the sleeves up to sit there and just kind of show them off a little better.
You wear you wear more tight t shirts, those kinds of things.
That's a big thing.
Surgery and goat.
Coach, thanks for hanging out with us and thanks for sorting out the technology down there.
Really appreciate it.
I enjoyed it.
Appreciate you all.
All right, kids, go to sleep.
Yes, sir.
Catch up soon.
