Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship[bright music] - Hi, my name is Renee and I'm a helper.
I'm very proud of my job because I get to help you when there's an emergency.
I'm a 911 operator.
I'm trained to provide emergency services over the phone.
I can help you stay calm, talk with you about how to assist others, and connect you to other helpers like police officers, firefighters, and paramedics.
911 operators can be located in police or fire stations, an emergency operations center, or other rescue organizations.
You most likely won't see me when I'm working, but you can feel safe knowing I'm on the other end of the phone if you need me in an emergency.
911 operators are important helpers in our neighborhood because we are the first person you will talk to if you call for an emergency.
