One of the most important African American art collections lives in a Los Angeles home.

How does someone become a fine art collector? Dr. Joy Simmons discovered her love of art when taking a class with Alonzo Davis at Crenshaw High School. Today, her Los Angeles home is decorated with murals, paintings and other African and African American art objects that she has commissioned or collected, including work from artists like Mickalene Thomas, David Hammons and Kerry James Marshall.
