1959 Tornado, Canfield Drive Play Premiere, Memories of Forest Park Highlands.
Sixty years ago, a rare winter tornado cut through the heart of St. Louis in the middle of the night. Two out-of-town playwrights who watched the events in Ferguson said it felt like “a very American story.” Their play Canfield Drive premiered in St. Louis before and is heading to New York. Images of the old St. Louis amusement park evoke very different reactions from those who remember it.
