Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and so is a surge of new COVID-19 cases. The state's public health department today reports more than 5,000 new COVID cases since Tuesday. The increase in cases in Illinois this fall has now surpassed last summer's Delta Variant surge. Health officials are urging residents to take extra precautions as they make plans to gather with family members.
