I'm here tonight with my guitarist Scott Guttormson to play you some original music of ours.
I don't typically write music that's necessarily just radio friendly.
I write about different subjects that most people wouldn't touch on.
I don't really feel the need to do everything exactly like everybody else.
Right now we're trying to get out a bluegrass type of music, and slowly progress to more sort of pop orientated music.
But with also different content than most pop music.

I write music but I think my most productive music writing has actually been working as a team with Dan.
I feel like Dan is a stronger lyricist.
A lot of times I'll just come up with a guitar lick or a riff and just working as a team with Dan, he'll give me a chord idea, or he'll just write all the lyrics himself.
But it really works best when we're working as a team.
This next song is "Little Boom Town."
I was actually reading about an abandoned town called Arena North Dakota, I looked at pictures of it and it looked like the buildings were still standing but everybody just up and left suddenly.
And I was just intrigued by that, so the song is about where did all these people go?
What became of them?
Why is there nothing left here except the empty buildings?
