We're out of the Brainerd Lakes area, kinda Central Minnesota.
We've got Malcolm Rosenberger on drums, on trumpet we've got Boondog Nick Bunio, Chris Fogderud on trumpet, he is our leader extraordinair writin' our songs for us.
On trombone we've got Joey Loss, Tristen Heller, and Sarah Fogderud.
We've got Brian Stubbs on tuba, and Doug Durant.
The best part about playing to a live audience is, first off, they don't know what they're going to get with us, so there's this strange apprehension, and then they stick around.
The smiles show up on their face, and we feed off of that, and before you know it they're singing along with songs they don't even know.
It's a hoot.

The Rusty Crayfish Brass Band got started, its first show on July 20th 2018.
The whole point of it was really just to get together with a bunch of our friends to play some music that we loved.
The music that we loved was New Orleans brass band music-- this lovely blend of jazz and funk and hip hop and all these kind of genres mashed together.
We fell in love with that and wanted to play it.
The name of the Rusty Crayfish Brass Band does come from an aquatic invasive species which is a serious problem in the lakes and rivers of Minnesota.
We're not trying to make fun of that, we're actually trying to use that a little bit because we feel our music is an acoustic invasive species, like this music has traveled up the Mississippi, and it's a little odd there's a brass band in Central Minnesota just like it's odd that there's this crayfish called the rusty crayfish in some of the lakes in Central Minnesota.
My wife is a very great scientist and she knows a lot about this, and so she was naming off all these aquatic invasive species.
It was like the magical moment when she said "rusty crayfish."
We were like we're the Rusty Crayfish Brass Band-- that's it!

Sometimes, like, especially the brass band music, it'll start with a bass line and a groove and a chord progression.
We have a melody over the top of it.
The song starts telling you what it wants out of it.
So there's some music that's just instrumental 'cause it seemed like that's what that song needed, then there's other things where, wow, this song, this melody really needs some lyrics to it.
And I think that's one reason why our songs like, on our set are pretty different from each other.
It's one band, but we have a wide range of music that we play.
