I'm here to sing some songs that I wrote and have a good time.
I always loved singing.
Since I was a very little girl I found ways to sing-- talent shows and in choir, in musicals, and I went to college and studied opera.
I got bit by the country music bug and so I moved to Nashville, Tennessee where I learned about songwriting and harmony singing, then I moved back home to Minnesota, and I've been singing ever since.
I started writing songs 20 years ago now, but I didn't write very consistently, until I had my second child, and I really wanted to make songwriting something I put more energy into.
I joined a group of people on Facebook where every Sunday they receive some sort of prompt just to inspire our song, and we have a week to write a song inspired by that prompt.
Usually when I get a prompt I spend some time writing about it in my journal.
Once I kind of have an idea, I go on a run and I tend to run singing to trees usually one line over and over again till it is right, then I move on to the next line.
And that is how I stumble my way through most songs.

It was inspired by the word cards.
I like to say about that song that I wrote it for my future self.
I was thinking about all the different ways my life has turned out differently than I would've imagined when I was a little girl but how some of those little side journeys are like the richest experiences I've had.
Fast forward a few months after the album came out when I thought I'd be sharing the album with the world in an interesting sense, I really wasn't.
I listened to the lyrics, and I was like, oh, I think I wrote that song back then because I needed to be reminded now that things will always be different than you anticipate, and there's always something to untangle some of those things that often can be positive.

I wanted to celebrate friendships and women that I had been friends in my life where sometimes relationships change, and that can be hard.
Sometimes the change is necessary and the change can be like here's to this goodness that we had together and how glad I am that you were in my life for this period of time even if it's not forever and ever.
